What is your favourite website host?

I've really liked using Dreamhost as a paid host (for a client). On the other hand, as a free host, I've liked being hosted by Jenviousity.com, but Parahosting was good, too. ;]

I somehow always thought Parahosting was run by that guy, what's his name, Faltzer, who runs pokeuniverse.net. Dunno why. I knew him at SPPf.

I've had mostly good experiences with Dreamhost so far, except they have never-ending hardware problems. I have no idea what kind of east berlin hardware they use, but it seems to fail all the time, so it's not at all unexpected for the FTP server to go down, or for the power supply on some server to fry out. I like them though because everything's supported and the price is balanced (though Kat hosts me).

Another paid hosting company I like is BlueHost (I don't know who told me about it, could have been Navarr or Penguin, or both). They're pretty similar to dreamhost, maybe even better.

An excellent free host (maybe the best) is ByetHost. Assuming you can remember how to spell the name of the company, it's not bad at all. I used to "work" for them at one point, so I may be a little biased, but I know that the money they make they invest in their technlogy (which might not hold for Dreamhost) and they do a very good job. Definitely check them out, at least so you can refer people to them.

Yeah the Parahosting is run by Faltzer.

Bluehost is good, but they only give you 100 databases. If I were to resell hosting, I'd need more than that - which is why I'm going with Dreamhost or Hosting24.

Parahosting is no longer run by Faltzer; someone bought it.

I've also heard that IX Web Hosting is good.

Bluehost doesn't offer reseller hosting. Granted, most web hosts nowadays don't care about how many databases you have, which is a good thing. Dreamhost is a good host; my only issue is the ridiculous pre-pay requirement.

I use a HostGator dedicated plan, for what it's worth. It's a good host.
