Rain. As I sit here on my computer in my badly-lit room in Southern California during one of the hottest heat waves we've been hit by in many a year, I sit here, considering rain, something so thoroughly foreign to this sweltering, dry-to-the-bone land. One might spend months or perhaps even years without feeling the soft touch of a drop of rain on one's face, or smell, or taste, something infinitesimally small, yes so infinitely wonderful. Album name: Rain Tracks: 1. Rain 2. A Drizzle 3. Large Drops of Rain 4. A Steady Shower 5. Uneven Water Falls From the Sky 6. Sometimes It Is Here, But Sometimes It Isn't I shall describe each track in descending order of greatness, meaning the best is on the top. Track 1: Large Drops of Rain Large drops of rain patter and pound against what one might think to be concrete, or some solid surface, surely something that is not porous. A steady rhythm falls in the background but the monotony is broken by the occasional fall of a larger droplet. Track length: 4.5 billion years Track 6: Sometimes It Is Here, But Sometimes It Isn't This is surely an odd yet unique track. Something that is heard often yet can be overlooked and passed over by the casual listener. It is a rain and sound that is on, and off, and sometimes it is patting ever so slightly, barely disturbing the delicate blades of grass underneath. Sometimes it isn't there. Sometimes it is violent and shaking, killing ladybugs and flowers under its powerful blast. Track 5: Uneven Water Falls From the Sky Similar to track 6, however, this time it is constant, but the intensity and frequency of drops varies. It is enjoyable despite its lack of originality. Track 1: Rain A boring track, yet oddly soothing, unless one were truly listening hard they would never even stop to think about this track. It is a pleasant, even beat. Sometimes I think it will never end. Until I look outside. Track 2 and 4: A Drizzle and A Steady Shower Both relatively boring tracks, they have much in common and not much to set them apart from the rest. Certainly not worth buying as a single. Track length: 1.36 billion years. Overall album rating: 8/10 Enjoyable rhythms not much unlike nature, however, many tracks are very similar to each other and in fact multiple cannot be distinguished from each other at all. Despite this, still good. A good buy. |
